On Monday, Mumbai experienced heavy rain and overcast skies, with the Colaba coastal observatory measuring 135 mm of rainfall by 8:30 am, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The Santacruz observatory recorded 33 mm of rain. According to IMD data, Colaba has now reached a total of 295 mm of rainfall for May, surpassing the previous record of 279.4 mm set in May 1918. Meanwhile, the Santacruz station has recorded 197.8 mm of rain this month, with the highest May total being 387.8 mm noted in 2000.
