🔥 Deadly Blast Rocks Sangareddy Industrial Area

A devastating explosion at a pharmaceutical factory in Telangana has claimed the lives of at least 35 workers, leaving the entire state in shock. The incident occurred on June 30, 2025, at the Sigachi Industries plant located in Pashamylaram Industrial Area in Sangareddy district, around 50 kilometers from Hyderabad. The blast, which took place in the spray dryer/reactor unit, was so powerful that it caused a part of the building to collapse, trapping many workers underneath.

According to reports, nearly 100 to 108 employees were present inside the factory when the blast occurred. Witnesses reported hearing the explosion from several kilometers away, followed by massive plumes of smoke and fire. Rescue operations were launched immediately, involving teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), fire services, and even robotic assistance to clear debris. Unfortunately, the majority of the victims were severely burned, making identification difficult. Authorities have initiated DNA tests to help identify the charred bodies.

🏥 Death Toll and Injuries Confirmed

As of the latest updates, 36 deaths have been confirmed, with more than 30 others injured, many of whom are in critical condition and receiving treatment in nearby hospitals. Officials have stated that several workers are still unaccounted for, and search operations are continuing. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha visited the site and directed officials to ensure proper rescue and medical support.

🧪 Investigation Underway into Cause of Blast

In response to the tragedy, the Telangana government has announced an in-depth investigation and formed a high-level committee to examine the cause. Preliminary findings suggest a malfunction in the reactor or drying unit, but a detailed forensic probe is underway. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and approved an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.
